During this morning's rain, we were surprised and delighted to spot a Tennessee Warbler (later, 2) lurking in the shrubbery around the house. They have been so plentiful this fall that even we in Calvert had a chance. An attempt to get a photo resulted onlyin one of "documentation" quality. Also surprising was a hummingbird at the feeder, a week past the last appearance of one. But it was stilla Ruby-throat. Our FOS White-throat also arrived today. The feeders have been very active during the rain all day.

Yesterday at Cromwell Valley Park I came across a Lincoln's Sparrow in the wonderfully over-grown meadow (thank you, Baltimore County Parks, for taking the MD Partners in Flight Habitat Mgmt Guidelines to heart) at the end of the northward creek-side trail. He was showing the erect crest that this species (alone of the sparrows?) sometimes does.
