Subject: [MDBirding] Modest proposal for feeder activity reports

I received an off-list reply from Bonnie regarding her reporting of purple finches, red breasted nuthatches, and (was it) pine siskins, which i have edited and show below.

Modest proposal:
Howabout if we all (at least occasionally) givefeeder specifics similar to Bonnie's so that everyone has a better idea what it may take to bring in some of the less common feeder birds? I know i have had a severe case of purple finch envy over the years, but i now have a better idea why i only rarely see one and usu a female at that. With two NONO sunflower seed feeders and a finch sock on my one acre plot, formerly (prior to 1980 &long before i arrived on the scene) a farm field & rather distant from woody habitat, is it any wonder i see any purple finches at all...???
