Subject: [MDBirding] Pine Siskin; B-H Vireo; and more migrants in Silver Spring

Cold front clearly pushed the birds, as I had a new yard bird today, Blue headed vireo. It caught and ate what I think was a picture-winged fly in a flowering dogwood. Also saw a lone Pine Siskin; the first one I've had here since 2009. In the 10 minutes following that sighting, saw Magnolia warbler, Northern Parula, R-T hummingbird, and what I think was a Bay-breasted warbler, but I never got a clear view. All the fun ended when an adult Cooper'shawk decided to take up residence in the yard for the next 1+ hours. A hapless American goldfinch was frozen on the feeder the entire time, waiting out the hawk. Thank you, Columbus, for giving me the day off of work.
