Finally found my Maryland nemesis bird, a Lincoln's Sparrow, at Governor Bridge Natural Area this morning. Conditions were utterly sweet, with dead calm, cool dampness, almost misty. It was great to find my own state bird, which popped up in a 5-foot sapling in front of the lower pond, among shrubs and wetland forbs, the quintessential Lincoln's habitat. There were also several Swamp Sparrows and Song Sparrows in the area.
