The American Bird Conservancy has issued an alert about proposed detrimental
changes to habitat protection for Northern Spotted Owls and Marbled
Murrelets. MOS has already filed comment in opposition to these changes.

The Obama Administration has unveiled a draft plan

habitat for the Northern Spotted Owl and Marbled Murrelet. Although it
proposes a significant increase in the amount of forest that could be
protected for these declining birds, it also includes support for unproven
forest management techniques that could be detrimental to this protected
habitat.
Administration officials need to hear from those who would like to see
Marbled Murrelets, Northern Spotted Owls, and the old-growth forest
ecosystem fully protected. Please contact President Obama using the form
below and let him know you are concerned about the Administration�s
proposal, which puts owl and Murrelet habitat at risk and undermines the
protections established in the Northwest Forest Plan.
