Dear KCBC members and friends,
After consulting the weekend weather forecast, we have decided to reschedule the Kent County/Eastern Neck Big Sit to Saturday (from Sunday). The forecast calls for cooler conditions (50s vs. 60s) on Saturday, but the big difference that made us decide to switch is the wind. Sunday is predicted to have 15-20 mph south winds, while Saturday morning to mid-day is predicted to have much lighter (5-8 mph) northeast winds.Because a good Big Sit species total is dependent on migrants passing by the observation platform, Saturday's conditions are much more favorable. The national Big Sit organizers have this year given teams the option of 'sitting' on Saturday or Sunday, so we have opted to go for the more favorable-looking forecast.
We still plan on being at the Tubby Cove observation platform from dawn to mid-afternoon and welcome all who would like to stop by for a spell of watching.
Good birding,
Walter Ellison & Nancy Martin Chestertown, MD
Observing Nature is like unwrapping a big pile of presents every time you take a walk. (or sit for a spell, in this case)
