This summer, we moved from the burbs into a DC condo. With no feeders, we thought our days of kitchen birding were over. But the pine trees outside our windows turn out to be a magnet this time of year. In the past week, we've had black-throated green, pine, and bay-breasted warblers; goldfinches and white-breasted nuthatches; a golden-crowned kinglet; and today, hanging upside-down on a pine cone, a red-breasted nuthatch. Unexpected fun!
