My yard (at least the feeders) have been shunned so far by the Pine Siskin irruption but today during a 45 minutes break between showers, I spent some time in my driveway to see what might flyover. Mostly the local birds and no raptors at all. At one point a single finch sized bird flew over giving a flight call I was not familiar with. Luckily, I had also put out my Sony PCM-M10 recorder. Was able to confirm I had a flyover Pine Siskin by comparing to a call found at http://www.xeno-canto.org/
Had a few moments this morning to check out Gunner's Lake in Germantown and Black Hill RP. Black Hill very quiet waterbird wise with only a few Pied-billed Grebe and 100+ Canada Geese. Gunners Lake held small numbers of Ring-necked and Ruddy Duck, American Coot and 15 Pied-billed Grebe.
