I was inspired by Joe Hanfman and Bob Ringler's adventures in Somerset county last Wednesday that I decided to try my luck.
Highlights:
At Deal Island I spotted the CATTLE EGRET they had found and raised the count to two. A TRICOLORED HERON made a quick appearance and then flew off. The ducks BLUE-WINGED TEAL GREEN-WING TEAL GADWALL AMERICAN WIGEON didn't seem to mind the three hunters in their midst.
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were calling loudly. I also saw a CASPIAN TERN.
A homeowner on Oriole Back Road had five or six feeders out that attracted RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, PURPLE FINCH and PINE SISKINS.
Along Jerusalem Road I stopped to watch the antics of YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS RED-BREASTED WOODPECKERS PILEATED WOODPECKERS
A beautiful day to be out on the marshes.
