Hey everyone,
Yesterday Tom Feild, John Hubbel, Dan Small, and myself spent most of the day birding in Wicomico and Somerset Counties. We started at Nutters Neck in Wicomico where we walked the fields searching for sparrows. All the common sparrows were in abundance along with large mixed finch flock that consisted of mostly American Goldfinches and Pine Siskins. A couple Purple Finches and House Finches were also observed. We continued down to Somerset County where we searched Vessey's Orchard for anything unusual. At Vessey's we found large concentrations of Swamp and Savannah Sparrows in the fields along with a single White-crowned Sparrow. Palm Warblers, American Pipits, and Horned Larks were also observed. On Deal Island we scoured the field areas at the Dove Hunting area just north of Wenona but found nothing of interest other than a Magnolia Warbler.
