This morning I had 31 Pine Siskins at the feeders in the front yard and 42 in the back yard and that was a conservative count.
The Cape May Morning Flight project has an interesting statistic about Siskins. I quote: The other major news was yet another good finch flight today [Oct. 21], continuing this fall's irruptive trend.
Today's 608 Pine Siskins was their third-highest flight this year, bringing the 2012 total up to 3566, which far exceeds the next best year (800 in 2010)!
On a more normal note, the Morning Flight counted over 40,000 Yellow-rumped Warblers on Sunday and Monday.
