As a Canon user I suggest going to your menu button on the back of the camera. Use the button (not sure what it is called) just to the right of the screen. You can move the highlighted icon to to one of the tool icons. In one of them you should be able to set the date & time.

Subject: [MDBirding] Dated picture number issue, slightly off topic

This is a bit off topic, but Bob Ringler pointed this out to me this morning. He said that my picture file name of the Black capped Chickadee indicated that this picture was taken on May 14th. I thought, that old man is going crazy ( no offence Bob). Turns out, I am the crazy one. Apparently when I down load pictures off of my Canon Camera, the new file is generated with a correct date on the computer generated file folder, but each individual photo file name starts with 2012-5-14. I checked backwards at the past 6 months of pictures and they all start with 2012-5-14. However, when you hold your curser over the picture and or look up the picture file information, it is correct. What am I doing wrong or not doing? My guess is that it is something in the camera.

Does this make sense? Has anyone had this problem in the past or have a solution?

Thanks.
