Warren,

You said next year's goal was to run a marathon. Your goal would, of course, be to see how many birds you could detect in 26.2 miles, right?

Well, the bar is set at 31 species sans binoculars. Bring it on!� It was a gloomy day, so it should be easy to beat!
(I think binoculars should be allowed because it requires extra toughness to carry them. I guess we need separate spring and fall categories to account for abundant birdsong in spring.)

Oh, and since they do still time marathons the traditional way as well, my time was 5:20 - not an amazing time, but I was happy with no stopping or walking. :)
