Subject: FW: [MDBirding] Black-tailed Gull at Fort Armistead Park

To clarify a few points in my earlier [rushed] message...
1. The bird was a 1st winter bird. Not a juvenile.
2. There was no noticeable difference is size between the Laughing and the
Black-tailed. Thats why I cant say that I noticed that it was bigger
(LAGU is 16.5, BTGU is 19 and a HEGU is 25)
3. I neglected to mention the solid white rump.

My annotated original message reads:
> While at Fort Armistead Park at 12:00, I noticed a very dark gull flying
> around with several Laughing Gull (LAGU). This is what I observed: dark body
> with white undertail, solid black tail, primaries darker than wing coverts. No
> spots on the primary tips. Dark wing linings. [3]
>
> After checking Sibley at home I want to add the following: This bird was a [1]
> juvenile Black-tailed Gull. [2] I cant say that I noticed that it was bigger
> than the LAGU; but the size difference was nothing like seeing a Herring Gull
> (HEGU) with LAGU. I did not note a lighter face on this bird.
>
> After checking the Bing map, it appears that the bird was on the borderline
> between Baltimore City or Anne Arundel County, south of Fort Carroll.
