Retraction: Ipswich Savannah Sparrow at Irvine Nature Center
I just got home and checked Sibley and it appears the streaks on the breast are too dark and heavy to be an Savannah Sparrow (Ipswich). The upperside of this bird looked like it was a ghosted version (50%) of the of the other Savannah Sparrow (SASP) with it. The images of the bird showed darker, heavier streaks on the breast and light coloration on the underside of the tail feathers. Jim Stasz has suggested that I look to Bent's online collection for a description of another pale inland Savannah not illustrated in standard guides. I have removed this bird from my eBird list ...for now. ; )
