I went out to Fort Armistead late this afternoon to look through the gulls. Although I did not see anything too unusual, there was a nice diversity of gulls present. Highlights included 2 Bonaparte's Gulls (one adult and one 1st winter) that flew in with a small group of Laughing Gulls. Also of note were three Lesser Black-backed Gulls, which consisted of one 1st winter/juvenile and two 2nd winter birds.
Total gulls included:
156 Herring Gulls
70 Ring-billed Gulls
35 Laughing Gulls
25 Great Black-backed Gulls
3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls
2 Bonaparte's Gulls
Little else was present at the park or over the water, although I did count 220 Double-crested Cormorants.
