Hi Warren and Lisa,

Thanks very much for this post. Every active birder makes an id error now and then. It's a universal hazard of our fantastic hobby/pastime/passion/obsession.

I'd like to highlight another lesson from this. Warren (or Lisa?) took excellent photos of the bird in question, allowing review after the fact. Of course it's not always possible to get a photo--but if you have the capability, please go for it! You'll learn more about birds and you'll make a lasting contribution to bird study.
