This morning about 8:15 AM, I am pretty sure (just not eBird sure) that I had 8-10 White-winged Crossbills flyover the dike heading in a SW direction. I had just come from checking the spruce grove beyond the impoundment area w/o success. Went back to re-check it after the flyover but they did not stop there. Flight calls seem to match pretty well to what I have been hearing on recordings. The millisecond look I got through the binocs were of finch sized birds, lightish on the breast with pink flanks. I will just have to keep practicing with finch flight calls and be ready for next chance.
