That reminds me: on Sunday afternoon (Nov 11) I heard what I am 99.9% certain was a raven fly over our house in Cabin John. I couldn't get outside with the binoculars fast enough, but it was by itself and it sounded like/was croaking like a raven. Or should I say a CORA. ;-)

Sorry for the late report - I had forgotten about it until I saw this report from Gail.

Subject: [MDBirding] Raven in Colesville (Mont. Co.)

HI all,

We went up to Brookside Gardens to see if anything had shown up after the frontal passage. In a word, it was pretty dull! There were a lot of Goldfinches and House Finches about (maybe 20 of the former and 15 of the latter) -- interestingly, feeding on the seeds (berries?) of crape myrtle in a sheltered part of the garden. The only somewhat unusual birds were a single Brown Creeper and several raptors -- a large (probably female) Cooper's and two soaring Redtails. However driving out along Randolph RD (going towards Colesville) we saw a RAVEN fly over being harrassed by two cawing Am. Crows. This is our second local Raven sighting in three days. We are not too far from where the ravens have been nesting at Rocky Gorge dam (near I-95) so maybe one of them or an offspring.
