Subject: [MDBirding] Oxbow Lake - Tundra Swan, family of 4

I checked eBird records for Tundra Swan at Oxbow Lake in November and have been checking Oxbow Lake for their arrival. This morning just before sunrise, a family of 4 swam out from behind some reeds on the western shore. Which means they probably overnighted arriving yesterday, Nov 15th. Prior checklist dates: Nov 11, 14, 22, 26, 27.

Also had a probably injured Great Blue Heron being targeted by a probable 5-year Bald Eagle. Watched as the eagle chased it from a tree where it was perched. The heron landed in the water amongst Canada Geese. The eagle dove at it multiple times. The heron was making a lot of intimidating noises hoping to scare the eagle away. When the eagle flew away, the heron retreated to a tree along the east side of the lake. I watched it in a scope - I think it was watching me too thinking "can't you do something about that eagle?"
