All,

Here are a couple photos of the Calliope Hummingbird today, viewed this morning with Dave Palmer. Thanks, Vince, and congrats!

This is the 6th report of the species in Maryland. Four records are already accepted by the MD/DCRC, and a second Calliope at Casa de Stasz did not permit documentation (unreviewable). Here's a link to the Calliope Hummingbird on MD Biodiversity, which includes the county records and photos of several of our previous Calliopes: http://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=1146

I spent the early part of the day cruising around the Eastern Shore with my wife and daughter. Only other birds of note were two Brown Pelicans at Black Walnut Point (Talbot) and one from Hemingways (QA). The flooded field north of Route 481 on Route 309 still looks good for late shorebirds, today holding 10 KILLDEER, a DUNLIN, and seven WILSON'S SNIPE.

Good birding,

Bill
