Subject: [MDBirding] Assateague SP Friday - Orange-crowned Warbler, Red Crossbills

With a lot of help from my friends, I managed distant looks at the Western Grebe from the west side of the Verrazano Bridge, and then went looking for finches on the island. Did not find a redpoll, but did get super looks at a half-dozen Red Crossbills. Only other bird of note in the myriad myrtles was a skulking Orange-crowned Warbler. The bird was seen along the main road in the campground, just after the first loop, on the west side (along a watery ditch between the state park campground road and the parallel road that goes down to the National Seashore) near a bat box that is out in the open. Was hard to see, but I did manage a poor photo.
