I birded Sandy Point State Park this morning. It was largely uneventful, but I did find one Brant foraging in the grass near the south beach with a group of 69 Canada Geese. I got several semi-close photos of the bird, and it was still present when I left (a little before noon). Also present were 100+ Buffleheads and 2 Greater Scaup. Gulls consisted only of Great Black-backed, Herring, and Ring-billed. I did a search of the park's pines, but was unable to find any winter finches.
