Subject: [MDBirding] Irvine/Vesper...+ Furnace Trail

A gorgeous day for birding at Irvine Nature Center. An on and (more) off regular here, the VESPER SPARROW was halfway down (as viewed from the gazebo) the trail to the right/south that goes downhill (east) along a tree line, near where there are 7 trail signs--and ,interestingly, directly opposite the other side of the field and gnarly tree where I found a vesper a few weeks ago. Very good, close view. My other favorite birds were a lightly-toned Savannah Sparrow, a Fish Crow, and 4 Hermit Thrush.

On my way home I stopped at Loch Raven's Furnace Trail on Dulaney Valley Rd., hoping to find crossbills, but I found none. Many juncos that were at the top of cone-bearing trees created suspense, and a Brown Creeper, 2 Red-Breasted Nuts, and a Sapsucker provided some nice entertainment.
