Dear friends,I'm sending this note to friends who have shared good times together at Kiptopeke over the years (by confidential bcc) and I am asking you please to join me in lending a hand to two friends in an emergency situation. I've learned that Calvin Brennan and Charlene are in a serious financial emergency situation : no cash, no cash reserves, utilities bills two months past due, needing propane and winter supplies.
Regardless of our differing points of view about what happened late last summer, I pray that we can just put all of that behind us now, and recognize the serious hardship they�re facing. Caring for a friend is all that matters now.
I am deeply thankful for some of the best days in my life with friends looking skyward from the hawk watch platform, and for all that I learned from Calvin's quiet wisdom. I never imagined there would be a way to really return that favor - but I think now there is.
As you may know, Calvin made a commitment to reserve his time for a full migration season for CVWO. In the end, he was paid for about half of the season resulting in serious hardship. I hope we can let the differences about that go ... and just think with good hearts. Their housing situation is ok, but propane, heat, supplies, electricity, the basics are urgent needs. They have many job applications in and are hoping they'll have work in the new year.
Will you join me please? Send a check? As soon as you can? And maybe email them to send your good wishes and let them know what you are putting in the mail that they may count on?
If you know of other friends of Calvin that I may not know - will you forward this - confidentially- to them ? There may be email overlap - but I think everyone understands.
