Subject: [MDBirding] Oxbow Lake: Common Raven & Ducks!

Recently, someone asked "where are the ducks?" and I've been wondering that myself. Well, they are arriving at the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve (AACo). After last night's freeze, the lake had a good variety this morning. Jay Sheppard and Winger West were doing some trail maintenance at the Oxbow and able to get a little birding in, too. Oxbow Lake was about 95% frozen at 10:20 AM, but rapidly melting. When Jay called an hour later, it was at about 25% still frozen. Waterfowl congregating in the unfrozen parts of lake make it easy pickings!

They also had a Common Raven fly over calling.

FYI: AA Bird Club field trip to Oxbow Lake on Saturday, 1 Dec, starts at 8:00 a.m. at the entrance on Oxbow Place.
