Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from November 23, 2012

This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.

The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, November
2012, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.

Most notable in the latest census are the numbers of transient
waterfowl, with 16 species totaling nearly 11,000 individuals. Included in
these totals are 140 Gadwall, over 1,000 American Black Duck, and a
Ring-necked Duck for only the second time during the past decade. Note
also the presence of three species of Pelicaniformes!
