Parking on Damsontown Road (MD Rte 481) is difficult and probably dangerous due to the very narrow shoulders. However, if you continue just a short distance north and turn onto Crouse Mill Road, there are broad shoulders on both sides of the road near the intersection. It is an easy walk back to the flooded field.
When I was in the area around mid-day on Monday, I looked for shorebirds at both loctions: the flooded field on Damsontown Road as well as the pond at Quail Covey Farm (I did not find the Ruff at either place). For the pond, I parked on the broad paved shoulder of MD Rte 309 on the south side of the road, across from the pond. I stayed in my car, using it as a blind. None of the geese or swans flew off, and I was not approached by any landowners. The shoulders of the road are public right of way. Also, there are no signs saying "no parking, stopping, or standing."
