Subject: [MDBirding] DC's Rock Creek Park CBC Dec. 15 - volunteers needed

The Rock Creek National Park Christmas Bird Count is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Dec. 15. Bill Yeaman, NPS staff at RCP, runs the count which starts at 7:00 a.m. with a tally rally around 11:00 a.m. in the back office of the Maintenance Yard. Bill kindly supplies snacks for hungry birders as we go through the list of usual and hopefully unusual species.

The full range of birders are welcome from novice to expert. Many of the usual participants have signed up to help this year but we could always use a few extra pair of eyes and ears. If you are interested in owling, different teams usually get started around 6:00 a.m. and cover assigned areas before sun-up. If the owls cooperate we usually get Screech and Barred, sometimes a Great Horned.

Like many we are hoping the finch invasion will be evident in RCP too.
If you are interested in joining the count you can contact me off list at screechowl at gmail.com with your name, contact information both email and phone number by December 10. Thank you and good birding!
