To follow up to Kevin's original post, the crossbills (30 total) were feeding on various stands of Virginia Pine along Fairway 12 between 7:45 and 8:15 this morning. Golfers were there early and, at one point, hitting golf balls somewhat close to us. The birds flew in a tight flock over the green and landed, erupting in flight twice to go elsewhere, but staying in the general area. We walked down to the reservoir to view waterfowl, and the crossbills WERE NOT present when we walked back up.

Other notable sightings: an adult Sharpie catching, killing, and eating a cardinal while being harassed by crows along the same Fairway as the crossbills; 2 Redhead in the lake, viewed both from the golf course and Loch Raven Point, and 1 Horned Grebe viewed from the Point. No Bonaparte's Gulls, and there were only 8 Canada Geese at the dam. Those who are looking to chase the Snow/Cackling should wait until at least after 12pm.
