Subject: [MDBirding] County Records on Maryland Biodiversity

Hi Everyone,

Jim Brighton and I are excited to announce a major addition to the Maryland Biodiversity Project. Now when you visit any checklist, you can switch to "County Records" view. This will show presence/absence of records for the species in Maryland's 23 counties. We believe our records are complete - or very close - for birds, reptiles and amphibians, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and tiger beetles. If you notice anything missing or inaccurate in those lists, please let us know. All other records are being collected from any and all available sources and will be filled in as a fun, but massive,
long-term effort.

Here are the known Maryland bird records by county!
(Thanks to the many exceptional record-keepers in our community for making this possible.)

See our notes on records at the "About Records" link above the table on any records page, most importantly: "Note that Maryland Biodiversity shares data from a variety of extremely
useful references. We do not intend to duplicate or replace these
valuable services, and we defer to their owners as the authoritative
sources. Any mistakes here are ours and users are encouraged to
double-check records on these sites. Records are provided here for
convenience and to help promote interest in studying all areas of
Maryland Biodiversity." Thanks in particular to Richard Orr, Dick Smith, and Sam Droege for their support!

Enjoy!

Bill
