Hi Everyone,
I ventured out to Calvert County this morning, starting at Chesapeake Beach. I walked the Chesapeake Beach Railroad Trail at first light and had a Virginia Rail respond just past the first bridge over Fishing Creek. Just before the second bridge, two King Rails called and one made a very brief appearance. On my walk back, I was able to get good views of a Marsh Wren.
I scoped the rock jetties where Fishing Creek comes into the bay and found six Purple Sandpipers on South jetty. I stopped by Jim Stasz place and was able to view the Rufous Hummingbird within a few minutes (Thanks Jim). My luck continued with a brief look at the Sandhill Crane before it dipped over a hillside. Great day to be out.
Regards, Dave Powell Germantown MD
