Subject: [MDBirding] Claggett Center access

Hi all,

Just to note -- although the Bishop Claggett Center generally welcomes birders, it is private and the staff likes to know who is on their grounds. There is hunting on some parts of the area, for example. If during the week, please stop in at the office and ask permission. At the weekend, if no one is at the office, call the number listed on the placard beside the office door. Better yet, email them a day or so before your visit; the site manager is Stuart Scarborough, <sscarborough...> and his phone is 301.874.5147 x 103 . Just tell him that you want to bird there (and when) and make sure what areas are OK. If there is a conference going on, park in outlying spots.

Another notable sighting was of at least 10 Chipping Sparrows at the
Bishop Claggett Center at the corner of MD-85 and MD-80. A few
White-crowned Sparrows there, also.
