A somewhat bedraggled female Summer Tanager was seen this morning, 12/9, for a few minutes at the house in Columbia, Howard County, as described in previous posts here. That's at the cul-de-sac at the end of Sebring Drive.
The Tanager was seen just once at the suet feeder -- at 8:20 a.m. -- then perched and feeding on berries at a number of trees close to the house with the feeders. There were lots of Robins and Waxwings in the neighborhood, Chickadees (Carolina only), Titmice and White-breasted Nuthatches at the feeders with Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and a Brown Creeper on the bark of a tree in the yard of the homeowner.
The nice thing about this location is that it's possible to view the feeders without disturbing the privacy of the homeowners or trespassing on anyone's property.
