Subject: [MDBirding] Selasphorus hummingbird in Silver Spring, MD

A female Selasphorus appeared for the first time today (though, interestingly, I only hung the feeder yesterday after a 2-mo. hiatus) at my home in Silver Spring. Two years ago in mid-Dec, a hatch-year female Rufous hummingbird showed here and was banded. I took photos of the current bird and also looked thru my binocular but cannot see (yet) if this bird is banded.

You're welcome to try for it; the feeder is on the small, elevated back porch at 9500 Thornhill RD, Silver Spring, MD.

Different topic; at Wheaton Regional Park yesterday I had a swamp sparrow by Pine Lake and excellent views of a cooperative winter wren.
