Thanks for the post Dave, and many thanks to Jeff and Joe for the great
find.

I was there (Choptank Fishing Pier on Talbot Co side) a little later in the
morning (10:00-11:10 am). When I first arrived the female Barrow's
Goldeneye (with 9 Bufflehead) was right near the bridge and also close to
shore, making for really nice scope views and easy (but low light)
digiscoping. See one of the photos at eBird link below.

After I was there for about 5 minutes, the ducks flew upriver, past the
short rock jetties mentioned by Joe yesterday, and into Bolingbroke Creek
(the first creek upriver from Rt 50 on Talbot Co side). I walked up the
grass path along the edge of the river and this led to a place where I
could see up the creek. I re-found the Barrow's Goldeneye there, still in
company with Bufflehead.

So, if anyone chases unsuccessfully at the bridge, it might be worth
walking up the river to scan Bolingbroke Creek.
