Subject: [MDBirding] Dorchester Co Rough-legged hawk, Short-eared Owls & Cave Swallows

Pardon the late posting but I haven't been online for a couple of days.

Jon Little & his wife, BJ, made a trip to Dorchester Co on Monday and sent me the following:
We were in Dorchester Co. on Monday and found some expected & unexpected birds:

ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK - 1 just north of the Toddville boat landing (Cedar Creek road was probably flooded, as were a number of other roads). We were glad to find it there so as not to make Cedar Creek necessary.

SHORT=EARED OWL - 3 from the boat launch area on Bestpitch Rd. One sat in a tree for 1/2 + until it got dark.

CAVE SWALLOW - at least 2 dozen, probably more flew RIGHT OVER our heads along Bestpitch Rd. around 4PM or so. They were probably going by before also, but we didn't notice them until we stopped and parked, so it's hard to tell how many more there might have been - all heading SW.

BJ reported this on E-bird, but I thought you might want it also.

Regards,

Jon & BJ from Frederick Co VA passed on by Joe Coleman, Loudoun Co, VA
