Hi MD Birders:
A hatch-year female Rufous Hummingbird has been coming to a feeder in Prince Frederick, Calvert County, since about 20 October. The bird was banded so the identification is confirmed. The homeowner is allowing birders to come see this bird. The bird is coming to a feeder at the home of:
Iris Ivanosich 401 Paula Terrace Prince Frederick, MD 20678 "Iris Ivanosich" <irisivanosich...>
Directions:
From Rt 4 in Prince Frederick, take Rt 402, Dare's Beach Road east. Go between 2 and 3 miles, then ...
Left onto Cassell Blvd
After about 1 mile, turn left onto Paula Terrace
The house is the first on the right (401).
Park on the street on Paula Terrace or Cassel Blvd. Please do not park in the homeowner's driveway or block any driveways.
Logistics:
You can come anytime from dawn to dusk. The feeder is in the backyard hanging off the porch. The feeder may be brought in a night but will be put back up early (before sunrise).
Access the back yard via the gate on the LEFT side of the house. The right half of the house is an attached apartment this is currently occupied by a renter; do not disturb the right side of the house.
In the back yard, after going through the gate, do not approach the back deck of the main house, where the feeder is hanging, any closer than needed to see the feeder. This should provide an adequate distance for you to see the bird but not spook it.
Be sure to keep the gate closed and latched. The homeowners have a dog (he is friendly).
Good luck!
Phil
