Subject: [MDBirding] Saw-whet Owl update - Montgomery County

Well, that was fast! I got the report back only hours after reporting the band number. The little Saw-whet that was killed on New Hampshire Ave near Denit Estates yesterday was a hatch-year female, banded only 69 days previous (on 10/12/12) at the Kestrel Haven Avian Migration Observatory in Burdett (Schuyler County), New York (the exact location was LAT:42.44222; LON: -76.75778). The bird was banded by Dr. John Gregoire whom I believe is from Maryland - at least he used to submit to the annual list report not too long ago! Anybody know him? The banding location is in the fingerlakes region, 13 miles due west of Ithaca, NY. Fascinating stuff.
