Hey Tim -- my "I'm striking out too" text was actually in regards to the Eurasian Wigeon at Loch Raven. Sorry you missed the BHGU. For what it's worth, I've only seen it 3/5 attempts, so it's not always a sure thing.
And for anyone who wants to chase the Eurasian Wigeon at Loch Raven, be forewarned that it's rough terrain. No actual trail, and lots of downed trees. The wigeon flock was retreating into a cove, so I tried to walk the perimeter of the lake only to come across a flooded stream that wasn't cross-able. If anyone searches for it, I think rubber boots AND hiking boots would be worth having on you, though the stream is probably a lot calmer now.
