Subject: [MDBirding] Yard Birds PG Co. purple finch & red-breasted nuthatch

I've been pretty pleased with the irruption this year and the addition of some new yard birds. I'm located about a mile as the crow flies from Kennilworth Aquatic Gardens and I'm located near 16 acres of woods off of the BW Parkway.

I've had two red-breasted nuthatches and a female purple finch at the feeder every day for the last few weeks in addition to usual suspects which I will list below. Two days ago I had a yellow-bellied sapsucker come to the peanut feeder for the first time but I have not seen it return. Today I had a pair of red-winged blackbirds. That usually happens when we've got snow. Yesterday a black vulture circled overhead and a pair of red-shouldered hawks visited on Thursday. A few weeks ago we had a flock of pine siskins and a few golden-crowned kinglets and a hermit thrush.

Otherwise I've got the expected birds for the DC suburbs.
