I spent some time birding the Patuxent North Track this morning, arriving before the snow and sleet started. I spend most of my time on the paved road to Lake Allen but wasn't able to find any crossbills. Nice looks at a close Hermit Thrush and Red-breasted Nuthatches were a nice consolation. I wasn't able to pick out the "Oregon" Junco or the Black-capped Chickadee at the ranger station, although another birder reported seeing it.
