I spent the first half of the day scanning through thousands of waterfowl on the Refuge trying to find the Eurasian Wigeon and the Greater White-fronted Goose. Despite a good effort I could not find either. Never-the-less I had a fun day with lots of birds to look through, the highlight of the day was a surprise Atlantic Brant feeding with 100's of Canada Geese in a winter wheat field on the southern end of the refuge (basically the field at the end of the road).
Another interesting moment was when I heard unfamiliar sounds coming from the marsh/tree edge at first light. Totally stumped I stood on the road and waited for something to happen. After about five minutes I watched 27 Turkey's glide out of the trees and head across the marsh. Pretty cool.
