Subject: [MDBirding] Happy New Year

The SNOW GOOSE found on yesterday's Bowie CBC was easily viewed this AM from Annapolis Road (Rt 175), just West of Rt 3, at the USNA Dairy Farm in Gambrills, MD. This is in Anne Arundel County.

It is the lone white dot in a sea of gray and brown.

Also, A post on the AA Birding Facebook page shared the news of two COMMON REDPOLLS who stopped by a platform feeder at a private residence this AM. Talk about a great yard / year / life bird!

Yesterday, I did the Davidsonville area for the aforementioned Bowie CBC. First bird of 2013 for me was a hooting Great Horned Owl. My notable birds for my territory were;

Davidsonville Park:
-a HOUSE WREN (in the exact same spot I found one on last years CBC!), an Eastern Phoebe, a stunning male Northern Pintail

On Governor Bridge Road:
-a rather elusive American Kestrel

At the Service Road near the Davidsonville Park n' Ride:
-two pair of White-Crowned Sparrows.

Good Birding & Happy New Year,

Dan Haas
St. Margaret's, MD
