Got a tip from Dave Czaplak that there were 2 Snow Geese mixed in with Canadas at Lake Churchill in Germantown. Was able to get there about 4:35 pm and quickly found them on the lake. One a blue morph, the other white. The white one was id'd by Dave as a Greater. The entire goose flock (including the Snow's) all took off from lake around 5:05. Some other Mont co birders reported these birds to ebird on 12/21 and 12/22, so maybe they will stick around.
For anyone who has never been there, Lake Churchill sits right next to the Little Seneca Crk arm of Little Seneca Lake (Black Hill RP) and can be viewed easily from Wynnfield Dr or the paved path that travels around its shoreline.
Also note that there are 2, possibly 3 Snow Geese imposters that hang out at Little Seneca Lake and sometimes in nearby ag. fields. These white domestic geese can fly but lack any kind of grin patch and the black wing tips of wild Snow Geese.
Good birding,
Andy Martin Gaithersburg
