An American Bittern made a brief but definitive appearance at 8 a.m. this morning at Hughes Hollow flying from the large impoundment on the left as you walk out the dike, to the impoundment on the right. The bird made no further appearances. Also present in addition to the numerous Yellow-rumped Warblers and Eastern Bluebirds: Red-headed Woodpecker, Fox Sparrow and (seen by other) Wilson's Snipe. On the way out a Wild Turkey flew over River Rd. A beautiful morning to be out.
