Subject: [MDBirding] Continuing - White-winged Crossbills, Redpoll, Harlequin Duck

Hi all,

Just a quick note. Victoria and I went up to Fort Smallwood this morning.
Good numbers of White-winged Crossbills continue. After hearing/seeing a
large group early, we later found small flocks scattered around the park
feeding on the sweetgums as previously described and in the pines slightly
to the west. Though not seen by Victoria and I, we also hear that the
Common Redpoll was seen by multiple observers. Afterwards, we went up to
Fort Armistead. After a 20 minute wait, the Harlequin Duck (Victoria's
lifer!) drifted into view with a large group of Buffleheads at the first
bridge support.

best,
