Please see the following message from Bill Sherman, who did find the TUFTED DUCK at Mears Point Marina:

I saw your post yesterday
concerning a new sighting of the Tufted Duck.� I was taking a birding
trip to OC today so I decided to give it a try.� I checked first at the Holiday Inn but no luck there.� I then drove over to the Mears Point Marina a short distance from the Holiday Inn and parked in a large parking lot between the Red Eye Dock Bar and Annies Restaurant.� In the water near where I
parked were a group of scaup and buffleheads swimming in and out of the
pilings.� After scoping for a while I found the Tufted Duck among the
rest of the ducks.� I was there around 8 a.m. and, because there was no
one else around the ducks stayed pretty close.� However, I couldn't get a good photo because the group kept moving under the docks and
disappearing. [snip]
