After a very lackluster December, the birds seem to have picked up in the new year. Some recent highlights:
01/02: 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch, 5 American Tree Sparrows 01/03: 3 Wood Ducks, 5 Canvasback, 1 MARSH WREN, 1 Gray Catbird (overwintering), 5 American Tree Sparrows, 1 White-crowned Sparrow 01/09: 1 COMMON RAVEN (flyover), 1 Gray Catbird, 1 WESTERN PALM WARBLER, 1 White-crowned Sparrow, 2 Field Sparrows 01/11: 5 American Tree Sparrows (continuing group)
Mixed flock activity has also been up lately, presumably due to the nice weather. Still minimal waterfowl in the cells, though there are massive numbers of scaup and Ruddies in the river.
