We walked to the end of the pier, and the TUDU was with several goldeneye, bufflehead, and scaup in the open water in front of the pier. I didn't see any "private property" signs on the pier, so I think it's safe to walk on it.

The duck was seen from the end of the dock around 11 a.m. today when the sun started breaking through the fog and clouds. I was thrilled to see her tuft too! This time she was hanging out to the far right by the shore and phragmites and a buoy. I was also able to see her from the Chesapeake Heritage Center across the water. Red Eye's dock is much closer, but there is a bike trail that crosses in front of the water at the heritage center. Some bikers were out on the trail that ventured deeper towards the bay. If you miss the duck at the dock or from the Center, then one might try to venture down that path to scan the deeper waters.
